DIGITAL SHRINES BERLIN-LICHTENBERG

YOU ARE LIVE ON THE INTERNET

DIGITAL SHRINES BERLIN - LICHTENBERG a project by Francis Gomila

Digital Shrines is a series of “Hole in the Wall” installations, secret exhibition sites which the artist proposes to create in anonymous public spaces throughout BERLIN-LICHTENBERG.

These sculptural interventions, will discreetly surface in public spaces like bird nests hanging from the eves of buildings or like traditional public shrines dedicated to the neighborhood's favorite saint. The Digital Shrines will house artworks inspired and made from crafted materials as well as discarded found objects relating to and given to the artist by the people of Lichtenberg. The proposal is for the artist to amass material pertaining to his experience of living and working in Lichtenberg and create a series of “secret” public shrines accessible 24/7 on the worldwide web.

The artist intends to develop the project into a series of Shrines inviting other artists, architects, designers as well as members of the community to participate in their creation, in time building a collection of Digital Shrines throughout Berlin-Lichtenberg.
